Blessed are those who trust in the Lord

This Sunday’s Gospel (Luke 6:17, 20-26) presents us with the Beatitudes—one of the most profound teachings of Jesus. He tells us, “Blessed are you who are poor, for the kingdom of God is yours. Blessed are you who hunger now, for you will be satisfied. Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh.”

Blessed are those who trust in the Lord

These words challenge us to rethink what it truly means to be blessed. Jesus is not speaking about material wealth or worldly success but about those who place their trust in God rather than in their own strength or circumstances.

This theme of trust is especially important in marriage. Just a few days ago, we celebrated Valentine’s Day, a time when the world focuses on love. But love is more than romance—it is a daily choice to love, serve, and sacrifice for the good of the other.

Jesus’ teaching reminds us that true happiness is found in self-giving love, the kind of love that sustains marriages and families through both joys and struggles.

This weekend, let’s pray for all married couples, that they may build their lives on Christ, trust in Him through every season, and find joy in the gift of their vocation. If you are married, take some time this week to reflect on the ways God has blessed your relationship and how He is calling you to grow in deeper trust and love.

Parish News & Opportunities to Grow in Faith

As we move forward as a parish, I would love to hear your feedback on our building project. If you haven’t yet shared your thoughts, please do so soon—this is your parish, and your voice matters!

Lent is just around the corner, and we have several opportunities for you to grow in faith and deepen your relationship with God:

Exodus & Fiat 40 – A challenge for men and women to grow in prayer, self-discipline, and community.

Alpha – A great way to explore the basics of faith in a relaxed, welcoming setting.

Following Christ – A program for those who have completed Alpha and want to take the next step in discipleship.

This is a wonderful time to commit to growing in faith, whether individually, as a couple, or as a family. Let’s trust in the Lord, knowing that He blesses those who seek Him with open hearts.

May God bless you and your families this week!
